# Historical Data add-on

What the three-season limit covers, which historical data the add-on unlocks, and how it differs from odds history.

The Historical Data add-on unlocks available football data beyond the default **three most recent seasons per league**. It applies to the leagues in your subscription. It does not cover odds, and it does not extend Premium Odds history retention.

### How many seasons can I access?

Without the add-on, the affected endpoints are limited to each subscribed league’s three most recent seasons. The limit counts seasons, not calendar years: a season can span two calendar years, and different leagues can follow different season calendars.

With the add-on, you can access older seasons and their available data for your subscribed leagues. There is no single historical start date for every league or feature. Coverage depth varies by competition; an established league may have a deeper archive than a lower-profile competition. The add-on unlocks existing data rather than creating missing historical records.

### Which data does it unlock?

| Data                               | Historical scope                                                                                                                       |
| ---------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Competition structure and fixtures | Fixtures, seasons, stages and rounds beyond the default three-season window. |
| Standings and topscorers | Standings, including round standings; season and stage topscorers. |
| Statistics | Team, player, coach, referee, season, stage and round statistics. Fixture-level statistics are included through access to the fixture. |
| Predictions | Predictions and live predictions, where historical data is available. |
| Additional fixture content | Match facts, commentaries and news, where available. |
| Data nested under fixtures | Lineups, events and fixture-level statistics are also affected, because access depends on reaching the season-restricted fixture. |

Your league scope and any required feature entitlements still apply. Buying historical access does not add leagues to your subscription or grant a separate odds enrichment.

### Exemptions

**Historical data is always included in all Special Plans and Enterprise Plans**, so no separate Historical Data add-on is required for these plans.

For default plans (Starter, Growth and Pro), you can unlock the additional historical data with a **one-time purchase**:

* Access applies to the leagues included in your subscription.
* If your league selection changes, your historical data access updates with it.
* There are **no recurring charges** for the Historical Data add-on.

### One-time pricing

| Plan                               | Historical Data add-on          |
| ---------------------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| Starter                            | €29 one-time                    |
| Growth                             | €99 one-time                    |
| Pro                                | €249 one-time                   |
| Special Plans and Enterprise Plans | Full available history included |

These are one-time Historical Data add-on charges, separate from the recurring subscription price. Check your offer in MySportmonks and the [current pricing page](https://www.sportmonks.com/football-api/#plans-pricing) before purchasing.

### Historical Data versus historical odds

**The Historical Data add-on does not cover odds.** Standard and Premium Odds access is governed separately by odds enrichments and the leagues in your subscription.

| What you need | What controls access |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Browse old fixtures and their football data | The Historical Data add-on removes the default three-season restriction for subscribed leagues, subject to the exemptions above and available coverage. |
| Standard pre-match odds for a known old fixture ID | The direct odds-by-fixture-ID endpoints apply no fixture-age cutoff. They return retained odds for leagues with odds coverage in your subscription, with or without the Historical Data add-on. Some retained records date back to around 2018; availability varies. |
| Reach an old fixture through a fixtures endpoint or include=odds | The fixture itself remains subject to the three-season restriction. The add-on can make that fixture reachable; it does not grant odds access. |
| Premium pre-match opening prices and subsequent changes | Premium Odds history remains accessible until seven days after the fixture’s starting\_at time. The Historical Data add-on does not extend this window or restore expired Premium Odds history. |

### Choose the right historical odds endpoint

The word “Historical” in the Premium Odds endpoint names refers to recorded price changes within Premium Odds retention. It does not mean a multi-season football archive.

* [GET All Historical Odds](https://docs.sportmonks.com/v3/endpoints-and-entities/endpoints/premium-odds-feed/premium-pre-match-odds/get-all-historical-odds) retrieves available Premium pre-match price history.
* [GET Updated Historical Odds Between Time Range](https://docs.sportmonks.com/v3/endpoints-and-entities/endpoints/premium-odds-feed/premium-pre-match-odds/get-updated-historical-odds-between-time-range) retrieves history updates in a specified time range; the endpoint’s time-range and retention limits still apply.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.sportmonks.com/v3/tutorials-and-guides/guides/historical-data-add-on.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
