# TV stations

The `tvStations` include returns all the broadcasters showing a fixture in each country. It is one of the most queried includes on the fixture entity and is useful for building broadcast guides, filtering fixtures by broadcaster, and showing viewers where to watch a match.

### How to use this include

Add `&include=tvStations` to any fixture request:

```http
GET https://api.sportmonks.com/v3/football/fixtures/{{fixtureId}}
?api_token={{apiToken}}&include=tvStations
```

### Understanding the response shape

The `tvStations` include does not return station details directly. It returns a junction list where each entry pairs a `tvstation_id` with a `country_id`. The same station will appear multiple times if it broadcasts in multiple countries.

```json
{
  "tvstations": [
    {
      "id": 118535784,
      "fixture_id": 19427671,
      "tvstation_id": 37,
      "country_id": 5
    },
    {
      "id": 118535947,
      "fixture_id": 19427671,
      "tvstation_id": 37,
      "country_id": 158
    }
  ]
}
```

{% hint style="info" %}
Note that the response key is `tvstations` (all lowercase), not `tvStations`. The include parameter uses camelCase but the response key does not. Build your parsing with this in mind.
{% endhint %}

| Field          | Description                                                                                    | Type    |
| -------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------- |
| `id`           | Unique ID of this broadcast pairing                                                            | integer |
| `fixture_id`   | The fixture this pairing belongs to                                                            | integer |
| `tvstation_id` | The TV station. Resolve via the `tvStation` nested include or the GET All TV Stations endpoint | integer |
| `country_id` | The country this station broadcasts the fixture in | integer |

### Getting station names and country names

To resolve station names and country names in the same request, chain the nested includes:

```http
GET https://api.sportmonks.com/v3/football/fixtures/{{fixtureId}}
?api_token={{apiToken}}&include=tvStations.tvStation;tvStations.country
```

This adds a `tvstation` object and a `country` object to each entry:

```json
{
  "id": 118535784,
  "fixture_id": 19427671,
  "tvstation_id": 37,
  "country_id": 5,
  "tvstation": {
    "id": 37,
    "name": "Sky Sports",
    "url": "https://www.skysports.com",
    "image_path": "https://cdn.sportmonks.com/images/core/tvstations/5/37.png"
  },
  "country": {
    "id": 5,
    "name": "United Kingdom",
    "image_path": "https://cdn.sportmonks.com/images/countries/png/short/gb.png"
  }
}
```

### Filtering by country

To retrieve only the broadcasters for a specific country, use the `fixturetvstationCountries` filter combined with the `tvStations` include:

```http
GET https://api.sportmonks.com/v3/football/fixtures/{{fixtureId}}
?api_token={{apiToken}}&include=tvStations.tvStation&filters=fixturetvstationCountries:{{countryId}}
```

Replace `{{countryId}}` with the ID of the country you want. Use the [GET All Countries](https://docs.sportmonks.com/v3/core-api/) endpoint to find country IDs.

### Getting fixtures for a specific broadcaster

To go the other way, retrieving all upcoming or past fixtures for a given TV station, use the dedicated TV station fixture endpoints rather than the include:

```http
GET https://api.sportmonks.com/v3/football/fixtures/upcoming/tv-stations/{{tvStationId}}
?api_token={{apiToken}}
```

```http
GET https://api.sportmonks.com/v3/football/fixtures/past/tv-stations/{{tvStationId}}
?api_token={{apiToken}}
```

Use the [GET All TV Stations](https://docs.sportmonks.com/v3/endpoints-and-entities/endpoints/tv-stations/get-all-tv-stations) endpoint to find TV station IDs.

### Availability

TV station data is included in every plan. No add-on is required.

Not all fixtures have TV station data. Fixtures in lower leagues or regions with limited broadcast coverage may return an empty `tvstations` array.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.sportmonks.com/v3/tutorials-and-guides/tutorials/includes/tv-stations.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
